Chiffon Flower
Every sewing project has leftover fabric and irregular pieces from cutting out patterns. It is a shame to have to throw them away. Making this lovely flower from these leftover pieces is eco-friendly, easy & fun ... The petals of this lush flower are made completely from fabric circles of various sizes. It is perfect for small pieces of chiffon. Use the chiffon flower as an embellishment for any number of projects from hair clips, to garments, purses, gift bags, cards, shoe clips, pillows ... extremely versatile - imagine the possibilities. |
Instructions
1) Prepare your needle & thread. (Thread a sewing needle with matching thread, fold over & knot the 2 ends together).
2) Take a stack of cut circles, remove the pin. Start with the smallest circle.
3) Fold the circle in half
4) Fold the half circle one third toward the center
5) Fold the opposite side over the second fold creating a cone shape

7) Insert the sewing needle, approximately ¼” (6.3mm) from the pointed end through all layers. Make a stich to hold in place.
8) Fold the next circle, insert needle/thread through all layers of the circle as above, add a stich to join it to the flower.
9) Repeat #8 for all circles in the stack. You will be working in a circular pattern, adding the petal to the flower with each layer increasing in size.
10) Once all the petals have been attached to the flower, add a few anchoring stitches & knot thread.
