Yur living space is starting to evolve. She is debating the flooring & I agree a darker colour would really set off her new love seat.
I made a love seat for Yur today & it turned out well in the ultra suede. I think that I will do a matching chair for her as well. If there is any interest in how it was made, let em know & I can do a photo tutorial when I make the chair.
I see that Yur is already stuffing things in between the seat cushions...luckily they are removable!
2013 will be an exciting year with plans for new patterns, handmade pieces, tutorials, more photography & improving/expanding website content.
I feel very fortunate to be able to return to a passion of my youth - creating for dolls! Ball Jointed Dolls (BJD) are quiet simply exquisite! I have only one at the moment but hope for many companions for her. To start the year, the primary focus will be creating for my lovely Yur, who is a 1/3 scale BJD. I have plans for both casual & formal, as well as period gowns...draping is in progress. Patterns are a natural result of this process & I will be publishing them so stay tuned. Additions to the website will include sections (patterns, handmade & tutorials) dedicated to BJD!
New Christmas stocking patterns are in the design stages & will be released this year.
A busy year, indeed!
Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions, I will gladly respond. Feedback & comments are appreciated. If there is content that you would like to see, let me know...I look forward to hearing from you.
A new addition to my studio is a Wig Making Stand. The large end of the wooden egg is roughly the same size as the top of the Iplehouse EID head 8.5cm. It is perfect for making a size 8-9 wig. The egg is attached to a metal Christmas ornament stand. In the first use of the stand it was rather top heavy with the egg so my husband secured it to a plywood base - many thanks! It is now much more stable. The entire cost for this is less $8.
The stiletto stocking is finished. The silver beading shines beautifully. I decided to change the lace up at the front to a slightly wider ribbon to really highlight the corset style & show more satin. Also laced from the bottom to the top so that the beading at the arch is more visible.
Here's a quick peek at His & Hers...
Taking a break from the office work & getting back to working on the beading on my Stiletto Stocking. It is coming along. I am using iridescent white sequin, crystal bi-cone beads but the majority of the beads are silver bugle & seed beads. In taking these photos, it is apparent that the picture colour is just off & not showing the silver well. I will have to investigate some new software that will allow me to get a true likeness of the actual. In the mean time, the photos do show that progress is being made...
The lace on this stocking is quite sentimental...I used it to make the skirt accent on my daughter's Grad dress. It is really a beautiful fabric.
Tomorrow it is back to working on a couple of more commissions...I know, I had thought they were complete but I find it very difficult to say no, especially to long time clients.
It has been a full day in the office with paper & computer work, so not much has been accomplished in the sewing department.
I have reorganized the photo gallery to be more consistent in layout with the other pages on the website. It was a bigger job in terms of time than I had anticipated & hopefully all the new links work. The new "Customer Showcase" section can be found here.
The Rococo Christmas stocking is complete...Mademoiselle Marie now has her own page in the "Handmade & Available" section
The beading on the court slipper is done with a mix of iridescent blue beads....
I am hoping to be able to take some final pictures of this stocking in the morning - weather permitting. It rains quite a lot here & unfortunately there is very little light as a result. For the most part the winter months are grey, dark & gloomy, so natural light is hard to come by.
On another note, I managed to work out a temporary fix for my sewing machine...will be tackling my next pattern tomorrow as well.
The first men's Christmas stocking pattern is coming along nicely. It will be Victorian themed to go with the ladies version...
Continuing to work on the final details of the last 2 stockings that I made as pattern samples. I like to add something a little special to each before making them available for sale. As soon as they are finished , I will put them in the "Handmade & Available" section.
Embroidery was so beautiful in historical fashion. Particularly fond of the Victorian & Edwardian era when the lovely handbags hung elegantly from a ladies wrist. Petite but with such impact...
New in "Handmade & Available" are the following reticules which feature rich embroidery & beading reminiscent of times past.
