I had had a quick peek into one of my fabric bins & on top were some irregular pieces of plain white knit fabric - 100% cotton. It was left over from a previous project so I gave myself a challenge to create a dress with it that was slip on & did not require any closers. The design had to be in sections/layers because the fabric was just irregular pieces.
Overall this gave me a chance to explore the capabilities & limitations of a couple of my machines. The serger with a pressure foot of 2+" (5+cm) does not lend itself to sew sharp curves & tight sections on human sized clothes so was not suitable for 1/3 scale sewing. It does however do a great job of gathering & finishing edges at the same time so was helpful with the skirt. I put the regular sewing machine through it paces as well. I hadn't done smocking since my girls were little. The fabric was a bit too heavy for smocking.
Cold & flu season is definitely here - I feel drained of energy, headache, scratchy throat - I sure hope it is just a head cold coming on & not the full blown flu. Best be off to rest!
